They were going to the bush to fetch firewood, suddenly, she fell into a pit. She shouted for help, calling her friends to help her but they couldn’t help. Suddenly they disappeared. She heard a voice calling her name “Nkechi” “Nkechi” “Nkechi”. Nkechi woke up panting and already sweating. It was her mother that was calling her to prepare for school. It was already 8:00am on Monday. “Thank God, it was a dream” Nkechi said as she dashed into the bathroom.
“Nkechi your food is already” her mother said as she went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. “Mum I cannot eat right now, am late, help me dish my food in my lunch bag” Nkechi replied as she ran to her room to dress up.
Five minutes later, Nkechi has dressed up looking neat and smart, indeed she was beautiful, jovial and above all brilliant. Her beauty was known to everyone in the village of Nwaja to be extend that she was tagged “Nkechi, the beautiful girl”, at 18, rich men had already been asking her hands in marriage, kings and princes were not left out, but all their efforts was to no avail, all the girl in the village of Nwaje envied her but Nkechi decided to show a carefree attitude toward that.
Nkechi ran to the nearby junction to catch a cab since she had already missed the school bus which always comes by 7:30am, she waited for about thirty minutes without seeing a single cab to pick her to school, this remind her of her late loving father who always give her a ride to school with his Mercedez Benz before going to his work place. Nkechi’s father (Mr. Williams Ogbona) died 5 years ago when he was returning from his work place when he had a fatal accident which claimed most of his properties but at to no avail he gave up the ghost. Tears started rushing down her eyes like that of the Ikogusi water fall. She quickly clean the tears to avoid washing away the attractive make-up that her mother did for her.
