There is a different between natural catastrophes-those extreme events in nature, such as earthquakes, that cause widespread damage and man-made environmental catastrophes, for which we,human beings, are responsible.Man-made disasters pollute huge areas and cause extensive damage to animals, plants, and even to human beings.Examples include oil and chemicals spills, accidents in nuclear power plants, overfishing in seas, and large scale destruction of forests. The increased green house effect also belongs to the category of man-made environmental catastrophes.
DID YOU KNOW THAT???
- EVEN TODAY IN BHOPAL MORE THEN 20 YEARS AFTER THE WELL KNOWN CHEMICAL ACCIDENT,EVERY FOURTH BABY IS BORN DEAD.
- THE ACID RAIN THAT DAMAGES FORESTS ALSO CONSIDERED AN ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE.
- EVEN THE NOISE OF CAR,BUS,TRAIN AND AIRCRAFT CAN MAKE MANY PEOPLE FALL SICK.
- EVEN TODAY, A FEW TYPE OF MUSHROOMS IN SOUTHERN GERMANY ARE HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH IF EATEN, BECAUSE THEY CONTAIN THE RADIOACTIVE CESIUM THAT WAS EMITTED BY THE CHERNOBYL CATASTROPHE.
