Frustration-Aggression Theory
Frustration is the feeling of irritation and it appears when something prevents you from something that you want to achieve. More precisely, when someone is prevented from reaching their important goal or he fails to fulfil his important needs then, he might be frustrated. As the day passes this frustration turns into depression and that turns into aggression. This is a gradual process, which is likely the chain reaction. Frustration is caused by the negative effect which is actually come from the society. Sometimes it can be caused by the expectation. Frustration does not always lead to aggression, sometimes we deliberately suppress it because either we know that it is wrong or we fear the social consequences of being aggressive. Because of this, we often displace aggression into other activity.
Example: Suppose that you wanted to become rich but you couldn’t find a job. Then you will be frustrated. And as the day progress, you will be in a humongous depression. That will result in aggression. Your behaviour will be changed.
Frustration in my life:
This month I experienced lots of bad things. My Cell phone was stolen from my own house. My laptop stopped working properly. Then lastly I lost about 25Gb data which includes all important files and documents. These things are always very upsetting also frustrating. This month was totally curse for me and also for my family. I just want to see the end of it as soon as possible. I am trying to cope with all these situations. We have all had those kinds of months-they make us appreciate so much more the happy months that follow. Hoping for the better time will come.
How to decrease frustration in your life
If you want to reduce frustration in your life then you should follow these steps:
Firstly you should identify your significant goals. Once you have identified your significant goals be aware of your goals, then you will be able to know what will frustrate you and what you should do about it.
Secondly, you should look for your backup plans. Then if one of the plans doesn't work out then, you will have an option to go for another plan. In such a way you can prevent yourself from being frustrated.
Last but not the least, Channel your frustration properly. Yry to cope with it. The feelings of frustration are one form of energy. Don't waste your energy on aggression. Further, you should use this energy to work towards your goals.
