Hello guys, Good morning
This text is the English language translation of the text I wrote yesterday. I put in two languages, therefore, I have readers of my country (Brazil) and foreigners. The video placed is from my dog Miya, made by me!!!!
As you know, I am a psychologist and although depression is not my specialty (I studied more and attend more people with symptoms of anxiety) I know the symptoms of depression, what the cause as I have put in previous posts and today I will write about how to have a Puppy can help someone deal with depressive symptoms.
Depression is caused by situations in the family environment when the person is young. Not that the person gets depressed as a young man, but her diathesis is formed in the youthful phase of life. Diathesis is the propensity that the person possesses to present a certain disease, that is, the possibility of the person developing depression occurs there in the childhood and youth in general.
One of the issues that most cause depression in people are beliefs related to Desemparo and Dislove. A son or daughter who does not have the proper care of their caregivers, who experiences a home in conflict or who has no touches, hugs and affection from parents, has an immense tendency is to develop depression, because, in general terms, did not receive love. Moreover, even if the parents are loving, the fact that families stay too long working and little at home can generate a certain feeling of loneliness, if the child does not understand it well (usually do not understand, because they are children).
Anyway, I mean that the lack of "affection" is her with care, words, hugs, limits, etc. can create the diathesis in the child and make her an adult with the possibility of depression.
One of the things that helps a lot to cope with loneliness, depressive symptoms, anxious and to have a "friend" is to have a puppy. It may be another mascot, but I can't talk about other animals I didn't have. So my focus will be on the puppies.
Did you know that dogs can play an important role in our feeling of well-being, reversing all reported symptoms?
I speak with knowledge of cause, because I know how much my little dog called Miya helps me cope with life in general, teaching me a lot of things. Here some pictures of her:
()
That was the day she came for me. At first, he was trembling on the ground with fear. So I sat next to her to calm her down. After a few minutes, she walked up to my lap very slowly, went up and laid. Then I picked her up and I sat on the couch so she could get some sleep and become accustomed to my smell.
()
Here she was five or six months old.
()
That was only a few weeks ago that I took, after I bought her some new toys.
That's my little dog, who ever since she arrived, filled her home with joy. I chose this race shitzu, because they are very loving, calm, do not bark and get along with animals and people. Excellent for my small and quiet apartment. She and I get along very well. I chose a female because it does not mark Terrítório and as it is an apartment, did not want a puppy peeing on furniture hehehe. My connection to her is very high. Like she was my little sister.
But then, look at how having a puppy can improve everyone's mood:
1-Dogs offer love and unconditional acceptance.

Puppies will not care for our appearance, status, socioeconomic level, degree of education, house size, etc... As long as we create them with respect, leadership and love, we will return this love in a much greater and unconditional way.
There are several studies done with elderly people showing that the elderly who stay in nursing homes feel less lonely when they have a puppy than the company of other seniors.... The result of this study came through the fact that elderly people can open up and "talk" or be themselves with the puppies without being judged.
2-Puppies alter our short-term behavior
An example. Imagine that a person arrives tired and very stressed from a terrible day of work. You're about to take your anger out on the first person who talks to her. When she walks into the house, the first thing that happens is her little dog gets close, snuggles up and starts licking her. With this, the person smiles and their stress diminishes. Only this behavior of theirs can alter ours, avoiding fights inside the house, for example.
3-Puppies are excellent sources of distraction and withdrawal of stress

Those who live alone can better understand these questions related to the thoughts that arise from having no company to talk to. Those who stand alone may have their mind ruminating thoughts, because the lack of another person or a job that occupies it will leave the mind "alone", causing them to appear thoughts all the time. If these thoughts are bad, they may exacerbate depressive symptoms if the person has them. It's like that popular saying: Empty mind, workshop of the Devil, ie a stop mind creates ruminant thoughts that let the person down.
When they're around, we're going to have to feed them, clean pee and poop, cuddle, go lay on us, sit on our heads, et cetera. This will tend to "take us out of our mind", making our thoughts distracted and our moods improve, as we will not focus on reflective thoughts about ourselves that usually happens to those who spend a lot of time alone.
4-Puppies Promote touch
The healing power that touch possesses is something undeniable. It's not in my head. It is completed through several research done in this area of emotions. Of course the touch on the case is the one where the consent of both parties exists.

The hug proves to make our body produce a lot of oxytocin, hormone considered "happiness", because it helps to reduce all symptoms related to stress, and optimize our immune system. Stroking a dog reduces our blood pressure, heart rate and increases the levels of serotonin and dopamine hormones, which are the hormones responsible for our mood. The lack of regulation between them causes anxiety or depression, or both together.
5-Dogs improve our sense of responsibility

For me, puppies are like children. Once we have them, we need to take care of them with all care and love. According to research related to depression done with psychologists, our self-esteem is built when we take on a task and complete it, that is, having a puppy and taking good care of it improves our mood, because we are having a responsible attitude and We reinforce in our mind that we are able to take care of another being, besides ourselves.
Besides, having a puppy brings a great structuring to our life. Who is experiencing depression, presents reduced energy and tends to stay in bed for longer than necessary. Even if she is not asleep, for insomnia, she will be more in bed, because even to get up and do her normal activities lack a little energy and stimulation for it. The puppy can make the person have more discipline in their life, getting up early to feed, walk, wash pee and poo and, if they leave at night, will have to program to deal with their exit and leave their dog comfortable, both that night when in the Another day.
6-Puppies put us in motion
One of the most important things that help us not to develop symptoms of depression and anxiety, or, reduce if we have them, is the practice of physical activity. It is a very important thing for our life, both in relation to mental health and to our physical and estétíca, and, both of them influence improving our self-esteem.
For this, a puppy can help a lot, because if the caregiver is responsible with the welfare of his puppy, will take the dog to walk every day. Walking with it, we improve our mood, because the hormone that generates happiness is released during the practice of physical activity. We spend energy, reducing anxiety, and can be used as an activity for weight loss if the person feels that need.
In addition to these benefits, the puppies increase our social circle, because, when walking with them, we will meet other people who share the same taste as us and start talking with them about the dogs, and can increase our social interaction and lessen our shyness. In addition, it will be easier to meet people who have affinity for animals, which is something that can create many links. All this contributes immensely to the decrease of the symptoms of depression, because in addition to the practice of physical activity, the person is knowing, chatting and making friends with new people.
That's right folks, I hope you enjoyed it and you can reflect on what it's like to bring a dog into our lives. The responsibility we must have about their care is not by far comparable to the love they provide us. I hope you enjoyed it.
