What is Machiavellianism?
The term dubbed Machiavellianism in psychology refers to when a persons personality trait alignment tend to push them to gravitate more towards being so focused on their own interests they may manipulate, deceive, and exploit others to achieve their goals. It is one third of what psychology refers to as the "dark triad" with the other 2 traits being narcissism and psychopathy. The "dark" in "dark triad" alludes to the potential malevolent nature of individuals displaying high levels of the 3 personality traits within the "dark triad". While displaying higher levels of Machiavellianism doesn't necessary make you a "bad person" by default if combined with high levels of narcissism and psychopathy can see individuals displaying anti-social or malevolent qualities towards others.
Those aligning with Machiavellianism tend to have little faith in the good of humanity and often believe that most people only have their own best intentions in mind. For more information on Machiavellianism here https://www.harleytherapy.co.uk/counselling/machiavellianism.
Personally I scored 83 out of 100 with the average of people who took the test on the site linked below peaking somewhere around 67 or so. Meaning my scoring on this test is slightly higher than average but not in the top percentiles, which is good, considering those who score high on the test are generally folks that are completely self serving psychopaths. In psychology those scoring 60 or less are considered "low mach" and anything above 60 is considered a "high mach".
