Ever bitched to someone about your life, and have them respond to you,
"Count your blessings."
I did, several times actually, and I am grateful for those humbling experiences.
Yes, as humans, we will complain - lack of money, lack of love, lack of satisfaction, you name it. My Master used to tell me,
"Unsatisfactoriness is the nature of life."
And true, because of our constant unsatisfactoriness we will seek new methods to replace the old, new experiences to replace the mundane, new stories to replace the mediocre. Some would argue that then, being unsatisfied with circumstances is actually a good thing. It would propel growth.
But you and I know it's not what we're talking about, right?
It's that nagging feeling that you're not good enough, and you beat yourself up for it. You would compare yourself with others and say you're no good. You would benchmark yourself against unrealistic expectations, in the false sense that it will motivate you, but the truth is, those expectations are eating into you, making you doubt yourself, pushing others away as they try to comfort you.
So while it's good to be unsatisfied and channel that into energy for growth, it's also good to self-reflect on those unsatisfactoriness, and ask yourself,
"What do I have right now that I can be grateful for?"
Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.
From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.
Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.
Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)
