The whole “Are we living in the Matrix” idea seems to be gaining popularity lately, and I suspect the root cause comes from people seeing their lives change massively over the last few years. There's no doubt the middle class is being destroyed and jobs are scarce, plus money is becoming scarce for the majority of previously comfortable families. People are being crushed. That's unless you're part of the 0.0001% elite.
When faced with this kind of massive change it's only natural to start looking for a scapegoat.
Let's face it, life is getting more than a little bit weird for a lot of people. Lifestyles are being eroded and things are definitely not what they were 20 years ago. We're living in strange times for sure.
From my personal experience I never envisioned my life being so hard if you'd asked me back in the late 90's. I was doing OK and expected it to continue. Absolutely nobody saw outsourcing as a threat and it wasn't even on the horizon or even a consideration. We had jobs for life or so we thought.
So I begin to wonder why the number of conspiracy theorists has risen sharply since times got a lot harder. Are we looking for someone or some thing to blame for all this ? Since the crash of 2008 I cant help noticing the rise of the YouTube warrior predicting doom and gloom and the end of the world.
Now don't get me wrong. I suspect something deeply funky is going on. It's no longer hidden from view when you see so many Politicians say “When the New World Order is successful, and it will be”, added to the fact that banks are totally immune from screwing up the entire world.
Is it a coincidence since the 2008 crash the rich have got exponentially richer whilst the poor and middle class have been mercilessly hammered ?
Yes siree, something is getting seriously f**ked-up around town. And that leaves millions wondering WTF is going on.
The world is full of different folks with different beliefs, and that's good. Some have done a lot of research and gained huge knowledge about central banks and the crazy situation that is the Fed, whilst others have no clue about such things. And that could be the reason why they go down different avenues in a search of a scapegoat.
So whether we are living in a matrix or not, does it achieve anything if we believe it to be true, and how can we change anything ? Isn't it better to just carry on with life and do the best we can ?
Personally I can't see any other way. Life is life and we decide what happens to us through our choices and actions.
Look at it this way. If someone told you with 100% certainty that we are living in some fake world, what would you do the next day ? I'm guessing you'd go back to work and carry on as usual. What else can we do ? The world we live in still dictates what we do. The rent still needs to be paid and food still needs to be put on the table. I doubt being homeless and starving in the matrix is any more or less fun than real life.
I'd even say it could be potentially dangerous to believe such a thing. You'd go through life in a way that works against your usual patterns and you'd probably begin to care less about your actions.
So what choice do we have ?
You can ether stop what you're doing or try and make the best of it, because this reality is all we have and all we know. We're not Neo. Morpheus won't be knocking on our door anytime soon with an offer to see what's behind all this.
Life goes on, and we can only do what we believe is best for us and our families, and that means different things to different people.
Opportunities abound these days, and the gifts are given to those who take risks and strike out on their own and dare to be different. And it all starts with not accepting the norm of 9-5 slavery and being a debt slave and rampant consumer.
My advice for what it's worth – branch out and do your own thing. Do all you can to live life on your terms. Save money instead of spending it all, and don't accept anything less than you deserve.
If you do this it won't really matter if the matrix os real or not, because YOU are the one experiencing the good life.
Anywee, sorry for my late Saturday night half-drunken ramble. I have a nasty habit of vomiting my brains all over the internet now and again :o)
Let me know how you see it. Despite what I say, I still find this sh*t enormously interesting.
Please leave a comment. I'd love to hear from you.
