Today we have companions; machines.
In the start of 2000, the car – full of sounds, smells, and feels, blinking lights – replaced the horse.
A few years later, the inventive cool metal box shows up – that can talk to us,, play music, perform computations, pay our bills, monitor if we are healthy, show us pictures, and god knows what else – becomes the architecture of the normal.
Humans do bred, managed & sell their flocks before, so we tend our machines now....
We grown dependent on these creatures. We live along side them, adapting our own role to their rhythms. We feed them information and clean up after them.
We do like to think that we control and own them .. BUT every day day, we wake up, we find them waiting, implacably, for our attention.
What the boxes provide, we do like. How they calculative abilities, perpetual motion, and resolve things around us. Its not fun now a days to cut the grass, as it takes away our time...
Devices were intreduced into our imaginations as “labor-saving.” washers and driers , lawnmoers and so on. The processes allows us to re-direct our time to chatting with friends. which again is a other box...
Box culture has raised standards not only for the tasks in question – but how lawns, shirts, toast, should be maintained – & the free-time pursuits
Now with all this time saving boxes, we do also need to pay for them...
Keeping up appearence is one thing; keeping up with all the new inventive cool- must have boxes; IS a toOotally different ballpark.. & getting new boxes, cost money, and by default we need to work longer & more..
So this time savers, actually gives us more work in the general concept...
