In the midst of the whole border separation situation (which shows that both political "sides" are equally terrible and will grab at anything to fuel their respective agendas) and the Rizzy incident, I'm going to take some BuzzFeed quizzes and give us all a good laugh. Expect me to talk about (or outright laugh at) certain questions as I go along.
Quiz: How Much of a Feminist Are You?
I would be willing to give up some of my salary if I had to, so that equal pay in my workplace could be a reality.
In the case of blatantly unfair labor practices, yes, I would. However, I know what BuzzFeed is hinting at.
I don’t use the phrase “hey guys” when referring to a group of people that includes men and women.
Who hasn't done this? It's 2018. We're all guys.
I think it’s important to encourage girls to pursue science and math as a career.
I believe in encouraging children's creativity and problem-solving skills rather than telling them to do one thing in particular.
I believe that women who possess certain types of privilege are responsible for advocating for women who don’t have their level of privilege.
I do think that privilege exists, just not the BuzzFeed kind, and it's definitely not a rigid monolith. While I do believe that people tend to be ignorant of what really goes into the lifestyle they have, I don't think it's anyone's particular responsibility to take on an advocacy role. That said, you can always donate your Steemit money to a charity without saying anything.
Result: 18/50
Quiz: How Woke Are You?
Result: Not woke at all
(I mean, I'd love to talk about slavery. Let's get a good discussion going about human trafficking, UAE camel jockeys, child labor in fast fashion, and more. )
Quiz: How Privileged Are You?
I am white.
I have never been discriminated against because of my skin color.
If you go to South Africa as a white person, good luck to you. If you live there, how do you do it?
A stranger has never asked to touch my hair, or asked if it is real.
If you can afford extensions or a wig, that's a pretty good indicator of socioeconomic privilege.
Result: 41/100
Quiz: How Sexist Are You Actually?
Answer honestly: Have you judged a woman's intelligence because of the way she speaks?
I think everyone does this with both men and women, but it's not really a good thing to do.
Can women be funny?
Why is this a question?
Result: 39% sexist
(Note: This quiz is heavily skewed as it fails to acknowledge sexism against men.)
Quiz: Are You a Feminist Or a Meninist?
(I call myself an egalitarian, but let's find it out if I'm something else.)
When a guy sees a woman on the street and says, "Nice ass," she should smile and thank him, right?
If a woman said this to a man, I would be equally revolted and baffled.
Should men hold the door for women?
That's not sexist. Holding the door open is part of being a decent human being.
When a man and woman get married, should she always take his last name?
I mean, the man can pull a Gutenberg and take his wife's last name.
Result: Meryl Streep feminist
(The "meninist" answers all sound like incels and didn't mention things like false rape accusations, higher suicide rates among men, or about how there is a larger between males and females in reading.)
