Basically Lisk is a Decentralized Blockchain Application Platform based on its own blockchain network and with its own token (LSK), Lisk will enable developers to create, manage and distribute DAPPs deploying their own sidechain linked to Lisk's of course.
2- PROBLEM SOLVING
Loss in autonomy and revenue for the developers against App Store (Apple) or Play Store (Google) which are centralized corporations.
Lack of developer adoption into the blockchain technology, they'll ofer a Software Development Kit (SPK)- a framework- written in JavaScript to deploy the DAPPs.
3 - WHY JAVASCRIPT?
Even though JavaScript is a weakly typed language, they chose it because it runs EVERYWHERE, extremely popular and support behind with giants like Google and Microsoft working on its efficiency and security.
Anyway, eventually they're planning a switch into TypeScript - strongly typed JavaScript set - and are contemplating pushing back core features to C++ looking for speed and security precisely.
