Actor Stephen Furst, best known for playing Flounder in Animal House, likely won't be remembered as pithy, or full of hyper-intelligent witticisms. Highly quotable at times, yes, but often used as a semi-oblivious verbal punching bag of which other characters could throw zingers. But at a time when he'll be remembered with respect for his art, I love this quote from his sons:
“To truly honor him, do not cry for the loss of Stephen Furst. But rather, enjoy memories of all the times he made you snicker, laugh, or even snort to your own embarrassment. He intensely believed that laughter is the best therapy, and he would want us to practice that now.”
How lovely a memorial, how true for all of us to try to be remembered for our best times and best qualities. RIP.
