Stumbled upon this week's 's Photo Quest competition; and the theme instantly reminded me of my last vacations: Green, Green, and more Green!
Açores is an archipelago with 9 islands, in the Atlantic Ocean. And for all the nature lovers, it's a destination that should be you your places to visit list!
While I was in college, there was a saying about these islands: in Açores, if it's not green, it's a cow. Well, you're sure to find cows if you visit them, but what it will stand out by far... is how green they are!
Whatever island you will visit, you'll see immense fields of greenery. Even in volcanic craters, such as the one on the first photo! All islands have their unique beauty, thow. Some with more lagoons, some with less.
Fog is a common visitor, and although it can mess your sightseeing experience a little bit sometimes, it also creates a unique atmosphere.
In some islands, you can find uncommon stripes of land entering through the sea, a typical landscape called fajã. In São Jorge island is where you can find the most beautiful ones, such as this one.
The hydrangeas are one of the typical flowers, in all possible colours.
And if birds, more than flowers, are your thing, you have plenty of species to admire as well; some only found in these islands! And where can you find them?
Silly question... in the middle of the green! Where else?? 😉
