Oppositional extremism blamed on the flawed ideology of your opponent is an admission that you have allowed your enemy to have so much control over you that you have abandoned logic and reason in lieu of fear and insecurity. Discernment and compassion have been cast aside to make room for the sweet feeling of validation you get every time your bias is confirmed. The satisfaction of berating a complete stranger into submission is worn like a badge of honor. Logic and reason have no place in social media - it is now accepted, expected even, for knee-jerk emotions to shape opinions and glass-blown egos to dictate behavior. The blind rage, violence, and recently, bodily fluids hurled back and forth between the alt right and radical left is no indication of strength or power, but rather a lack thereof. That blind rage makes it hard to see the real problem. A fucked up government run by incompetent idiots and power-hungry sociopaths - that's the problem. That has always been the problem.
Clichés about choosing sides are being thrown around with increasing frequency, but guess what - they don't apply here. Fuck your line in the sand. I choose neither. I would rather die than participate in the senseless flame wars currently ripping the fabric of this country into millions of highly-flammable shreds.
