My Favorite Sign at the Rally Today
Today I walked over to People's Park to participate in the Rally to protest the Trump Administration policy that locked up parents seeking political asylum at our southern border while taking their children away from them and holding them apart from their parents in detention centers. It is hard to imagine a more morally despicable policy, and it makes me want to do more to pressure our government to change the policy, reunite these families, and behave in accord with what should be our national values.
At the rally a diverse collection of speakers related personal stories about how the U.S. immigration policy is affecting them, their families or their clients. Two U.S. representatives and one Washington State representative spoke passionately about how the current administration policy needs to be changed.
If you are a U.S. citizen of voting age, vote to elect a Senate and House of Representatives who will pass real immigration reform and policy. Put pressure on our elected officials vote and behave in a compassionate and ethical way. If the administration believes their policies are making America Great, their definition of "great" is narcissistic and evil.
Off topic for a birding blog, but I couldn't not speak out any way I can.
