Today I want to ramble about my decision to rent out almost all of my Steempower again.
I remember when I was debating about my decision if I should sell my apartment or rent it out when I decided I want to go go to Thailand.
I assumed I would get around 800€ rent a month which is around 930 US $.
I decided to sell it.
I would love to have this as a side income but I would not feel good being so far away and I dont know shit about renting out property.
I am still quite happy with my decision. Especially because it got me some capital I could invest into the crypto space.
What does this have to do with me renting out my steempower??
Well I make almost the same amount without putting so much of my whole capital at one place. That is pretty much crypto for you. A place of huge gains and big interest is being paid for now.
I just want to put that for me into perspective also. With around a 5th of what my flat is worth I can make the same amount.
Is this a fair comparison? Of course not.
This is a high risk place and steem could go to 50 cents tomorrow but also to 2$. You dont have to deal with that if you rent out your place. The value will probably be rising but slowly.
And of course you can go back living there at some point and have a home and you really cant put a price on that.
The upside of renting out my steempower is of course I earn despite me not posting anything.
The downside is, I can give less, which means less curation rewards and less attention.
With attention I mean the ability whales and bigger dolphins have to impact the $ value of a post.
Think about it this way...You check your post it is around 3$ and suddenly it goes up to 6$. With tools like steemvoter you probably check out who got you such a big vote. You might check out his content and if it is not total trash you leave a vote or a comment yourself.
Being able to give over average votes can have a big "commercial impact". Like a really thoughtful comment.
So in that perspective I limit my ability to grow here in the future.

I like the fact that I earn steem without powering down and I see it as an holiday kind of. I write if I feel like it but I dont have to. I am not concernt as much as my blogposts do. So it takes some stress off me.
I am happy this option exists and I will use it from time to time I guess but I have to say I also miss it that my vote had a bigger impact, probably an ego thing ;-)
