In a week's time, I'm off to see a Dental Specialist due to some sort of anomaly that was discovered in my last periodic dental examination. The lining of my gum (or the lining of my sinus) has thickened since the last x-ray, and apparently this is cause for some concern.
I have no idea what this means, or what the specialist follow up involves, but all I'm wondering is how much this is going to cost me.
With interest rates rising (and my mortgage becoming more expensive) my disposal income (which was close to zero) is approaching the negatives at this point, and ageing is certainly not a fun factor to financially plan for.
I've got a decent buffer of savings, and an enormous amount of sick leave for my primary place of employment, but it doesn't stop one from worrying.
I did not have the best dental health monitoring growing up - but then again, I wasn't one to constantly suck on sweets and consume copious amounts of soft drinks. It has only been in the last six or so years that I've had a half dozen fillings and other procedures to ensure that I can hopefully keep my teeth for many more years to come.
The last few months have been pre-occupied with thoughts about the limited number of days which we all have available to us, and what we might make of them.
With ever eroding standards of existence, a friend told me "The cost of living is beginning to outweigh the benefits".
It is winter here in Australia, and the sun isn't shining much. I've not exercised on a regular basis since my wife's surgery, and I'm stuck inside all day to do my day job to make sure the bills get paid, and what previous few joys I enjoy to be beamed into my eyeballs via digital screens.
I've not been doing very okay lately, even if I've managed to constantly post a new game review or regularly commit to my Splinterlands TV streams.
Existing is becoming more difficult. Finding joy in games, finding joy while holding a camera, finding joy while typing out my thoughts, it has all become more and more eroded. The waters of life are starting to wear down this rocky facade, and while the waterfall might be beautiful, it is inevitably fatal to those who stand in it for long.
I know that in a few months the Sun will peak out again, and the weather will warm, I just hope that with it, my emotional state will join and make the grasses beam with green energy.
