A good day to you, fellow Steemian, wherever you are ðð!
This is my entry to ' Random Games Week 12- "Your Childhood Books!".
As I was reading through the entries for the contest on ' post, the first one that caught my eye and got me really excited was the first entry there from
who wrote:
but I did want to share them with you as they brought me a lot of joy as a youngster. The author is Enid Blyton, and I read a lot of her books back then, including the Famous Five and Secret Seven series. ........ The lesser-known Blyton series The Faraway Tree was one of my favourites, and I read them over many times.
Hey!!! Me toOOO!!! Hi-five !! Very nice to "meet" you! I loveeee Enid Blyton and I absolutely loveeee The Faraway Tree series!!! Fortunately for me, I still have some of the books after I dug through my treasure trove (thank you
for the heads-up ð)
There was the Faraway Tree series, the Wishing Chair series, the Mr. Pink Whistle series and a collection of stories in the Chimney Corner Stories. Unfortunately, some went missing over the years but I am really happy to have found these babies ð.
Just like , I found so much joy reading her books. They really are like the happiest of all books for little children. They were easy to read, easy to understand, comes with big letters ð and every story has a lesson to be learnt which are fantastic for growing children ðĪĐ.
Each time I read the Faraway Tree series (yes, I read them many, many times, just like ð), I would imagine myself walking up the tree, meeting Moonface, Silky, Saucepan and all the other "residents" living there, excited to find out which "Land" has landed itself above the Faraway Tree. The stories never fail to bring me with them, up above the tree, into every "Land" with its own magic that brought much happiness as well as challenges and learning. The stories truly helped in developing an imaginative mind ðĶðģð.
Here's a little, teeny, weeny snippet of a book from the series, the Magic Faraway Tree:
Then, there were also the fairy tale stories that I really enjoyed reading:
I am definitely one of those who has a soft heart for "Once upon a time..." beginnings and a "Happily ever after..." endings (even until today ð).
Here is a little twist to the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves story:
Notice how brown the pages are? Lots of good old memories ð.
Then, there were the comics like Archie, Beano and this one:
Hehe. I can't help but smile looking at all these books, they bring back such happy memories of my happy little moments with the books.
Thank you for bringing us back to our happy childhood days. I always look forward to your contests ðĪŠ.
