Well you probably noticed the poop emojis in the description. That basically sums up my experience of the hack job of a haircut I just recieved at First Choice Haircutters.
Let me elequently detail the events leading up to and after my new cut. Jesus Christ I'm still fuming but let's dive in..
So I usually get my hair cut at a Barbershop named Define but today I was on the other side of town, I had to goto the post office and liqour store and I really was overdue for a cut, so I figured I'd drop into First Choice because it's in the same complex and get all this stuff done at once..big mistake!
So if you don't know First Choice is a big chain here in Canada, think of it like SuperCuts is to our American friends. It's probably the first stop for barbers and hairstylists just getting into the trade fresh out of school.. or it could very well be the last stop for haircutters who have given up or are just too lousy to make the cut at better salons? Maybe the bad ones go there to die I'm thinking?
Omfg I still can't believe the cut I was given today but I need to keep a level head and continue my story..
So I walk in and give them my name, take off my jacket and sit down. A few minutes later I hear my name being called and this older Asian lady directs me to a chair. *It makes no difference that the lady is of Asian descent I'm just giving my story some context, it's not a knock against them at all, infact from my experience working in restaurants with them they're usually highly skilled when it comes to knifework so I'd be willing to bet most of them are good with scissors and razors aswell..
Not this bitch
So we exchange pleasantries and she asks me how I'd like my hair cut, I'm good looking and humble but I'm not too particular so I say, "short on the sides and back and leave a little bit more on the top please," I tell her I usually get the clippers on #2 for the sides and back and then she can use her judgement for the scissorwork on the top. For any competent person that is more than enough information to go about your business and give me a satisfactory hair cut.
She starts with the clippers..
Now first of all the best hairstylists and barbers use the buzzers a bit but mainly the highly skilled coif cutters exercise their scissorwork for the most part. If the person cutting your hair relies mainly on using the electric clippers you're probably not going to get a good cut and it's a sign of lazy work in my opinion.
So now this lady is 4-5 minutes into clipping my hair on the back and she works her way to the left side of my dome, that's when I feel a pull on the side of my head and she says, "ooh"
This isn't good..
The bitch forgot to put the blade gaurd back on the clippers and ran straight up the side of my head!
Rookie fucking mistake!!!
She just took a chunk of hair out at the lowest level the clippers go on when if you remember I said to use the #2 blade guard on the sides! This can't be fixed!!!
So she notices I'm obviously a tad concerned but mutters, "did that hurt?"
DID THAT HURT!?? No it was just an unprofessional pulling of my hair but clearly you just fucked up royally and there's no going back from this, I'm missing a huge fucking chunk of my hair lady!
I'm in a state of bewilderment, did this ho really just fuck up this bad? All these thoughts are going thru my head, I want to complain and be like "seriously?" My ears turn red and I'm asking myself how I'm going to handle this?
People make mistakes afterall, it's just hair and it will grow back quick but man what an epic cluster fuck and exhibition of this ladies talents or lack thereof.
I sit there for a few more minutes, it's total silence the entire time she's not even trying to make small talk or mention the fact she just messed up. She cuts the top with scissors and asks me, "how's the length on the top?" I say, "it's fine but you don't think I'm paying you for this cut do you?" She then looks sheepish and puts her eyes down and says it's on the house and your next cut will be free aswell. I say that's fine, I didn't want to make a scene and I was cogniscent of the fact there other people around and I tried to be quiet about the whole ordeal so not to draw any more attention to her debauched haircutting skills or embarrass her further.
"My next cut is free!" LOL
I'll never ever ever return to that place are you serious!?! They call themselves First Choice but they're definately the last choice for this cowboy! I have clippers and I could do a better job my dam self then letting this Asian female version of Stevie Wonder cut my hair!
I learned a costly lesson today!
So now the rants over
I'm not one to usually complain but sometimes I can lose my cool, I'm sort of proud how I handled this situation and I don't feel bad at all that I didn't pay this lady for fucking up my hair.
The entire bush league effort took 11 minutes out of her day and now I have to look in the mirror and remember this horrible experience for atleast a week. I'm hoping maybe she learned a valuable lesson to take more care and be more professional in her work from now on, so the next person isn't left with a terrible hair style.
I'll share one low quality picture buts it's hard to tell just how bad this is, trust me it's a hack job! Normally you wouldn't be able to see my scalp like this and it appears she tried to buzz it lower again beside that area she took a chunk out of to hide the first mistake. Total horseshit tho..
Thanks for listening guys and you can make your own choice as to whether you want to give these barbermills your hard earned money?
Honestly it's my mistake because I should have went to the same place I usually frequent because they deserve my business and I'm always happy with my cuts there.
Lesson learned.
Have a great day,
