Help I'm on the wrong blockchain!
Rewards are slashed in half.....
My vote is not worth shit.....
On boarding is screwed up....
Whales are taking a dump......
I'm leaving and never coming back!....
And other #oldsteem bants.....
Glad I'd anticipated this infrastructural move a long time and I'm relieved we are getting it over with.
Forget what you knew about the #oldsteem, welcome to #newsteem where you earn for curating good content. Emphasis on curating, your number one tool for curating is your steem power and in this era of Tribes, tribe power, if you're lacking that in substantial amount, you better be the content creator you claim to be. As a user looking to earn from curation, you have to have an eye for good content because if you discover one early and place your vote on it, you'd have more slice of the 50% curation rewards on that post. It actually really boils down to the available contents created, and I'd tell you why I said so.
I'm a common content guy I don't have large SP to curate neither are my contents exceptional, doomed I am....
Not really...there are a bunch of communities/tribes out there on the look out for quality posts that fit into their niche, you're a content creator, one of them should be appealing enough for you to tailor your content to, you're indirectly still earning steem anyway, so whats all the fuss about? TBH I've accumulated almost equal amount of steem in the tribes since their subsequent launch than my actual steem power that I've been growing since the beginning of the year.
Let me tell you what I think.
Steem has levelled the playing field with the evolution of Tribes, you think you have the knowledge to handle distribution economics and you'd rather own your tribe, go right ahead, we can see it happening, if your idea then works as should, the price of steem really won't affect you too badly knowing that there's a definite bottom in the long run, to be actually realistic. Imagine a tribes token being worth 5$ because of its revolutionary tokenomics, revolutionary, that's the word we use these days isn't' it? Do you think such token will be bothered much if steem is 0.1$ for 6months or 2 years?
Bitcoin did the first revolution still shaking us right now, Internets bastard child! The rogue disrupting the worlds financial system today, the reason you and I are here, expecting steem to moon...then Ethereum enabled smart contracts on a blockchain......which some people will conclude is a revolution.....and a couple of the others....... really my point here is not about these revolutions....but the fact that the time is here again for another revolution to take place, there is a mathematic algorithm of economics and team work that is required to build the next revolution from Steems myriad of Tribes and its already happening.
A lot of users can see it already and are already investing heavily in it because they are either building a network in a capacity they believe they have strength in or they are helping build a system they believe in, the reason why this space will be the most viable place for building is because everything is transparent and visible, this is one of Steems strength as a blockchain, check out one of the most successful projects on steem, Splinterlands, its not word of mouth, its in all embedded in the blockchain, the entire tokenomics, all the transactions, transparent if you know your way around, if Splinterlands keeps doing well, its price will tell, we've seen it, they crossed 1 million$ card transactions between players about a week ago. Its on the blockchain.
The other day I saw a Fitness app introducing itself to steemians on the trending page with only like 10 replies, lol, not throwing any shades but, first of all, the app is not built on Steem, the app is not Actifit, and the app did not know about Actifit, 3 epic strikes if you may ask me, then lastly the tokenomics was based on some mumbo jumbo that does not look as grand as what Actifit offers. Out of the 10 comments on that page, about 6 said they were fine using Actifit.
Honestly I have nothing against a healthy competition(pun intended), but if that fitness app took a deep look at what is going on in the Actifit ecosystem, then maybe it wouldn't promote that post and leave the app to natural discovery. There's a brilliant tokenomics backing Afit tokens called AFITX, I don't even need to be a pro economists to realise it because its all on the blockchain.
Don't get it wrong every Tribe has a ultimate goal, first to be self sustainable then to be capable of growing its tokens value, one of these ways is by generating AD revenue, Ad revenue helps the Tribe to purchase its token from the market and burns it to remove it out of existence, this is to help reduce the amount of that token in circulation. Its Economics or rather tokenomics, trust me its much deeper.
Eventually, Ad revenue might not
be sufficient, a tribe needs to have a myriad of ways to bring in revenue, which is why I see Steemleo taking a lead here, Leo has positioned itself as not just a random platform for investment there's a plus, Steemleo is a verified Brave publisher, with this, Brave users around the world can tip their BAT tokens to Steemleo while Steemleo can choose to use the BATtokens to buy more Leo off the market, I see a healthy ecosystem forming and it doesn't end there, Steemleo is positioning itself to be the solution for helping Tribes launch. This is how that works, do I know jack about the practical aspects of creating a token and tribe launching on Steem-Engine? No, but I know Steemleo guys are specialised in that.
We've seen some Tribes token fall drastically, due to how they airdropped their tokens, it makes us realise that its a problem left to be solved. Eventually in the broad spectrum of things, due to the nature of the Steemleo Tribe, it will actually possess users who are more mentally and financially experienced and ready to invest in projects recommended by the Steemleo team built on the trust and level of technical expertise it is proving to have and gradually building, don't forget, its not word of mouth, its all in the blockchain. These baby tribes will pay for the Steemleo guys services, some or all of the fees will be used to burn more leo tokens or indirectly positively impact their economic system, this is a very healthy approach.
There was also something to learn from the HF22 aftermath. Over time its been obvious that the Palnet tribe has access to the most intelligent and serious minded team of programmers and business guys, users who put their money on the line based on a projects plan, even when the token was airdropped and dumped by majority of the weak hands, it wasn't long before the price began to show positive activity, the number one witness on the steem blockchain is strongly tied to the vision of the PAl project, this means a lot in the world of tech, during the steem blockchain halt, a couple of users present in the Pal discord channel were the ones with close to accurate information about what was going on. The creator of the Pal tribe is the creator of one of the most successful projects on steem blockchain. Almost everyone hangs out in pal, either through their feed or through discord, this will be great for the tribes AD revenue driving sustainablility to its tokenomics.
ReggaeSteem is a Tribe riding their existence on the waves of a real world use case, a real existing community and a real network of social and entertainment influencers. Entertainment alone is a billion dollar industry like Sports, Reggaesteem is taking blockchain technology into a real world movement of Reggae enthusiaists, for the first time in history there's an avenue for the Reggae movement to have a positive effect globally, I can imagine the network effect of Reggae influencers on the tribes tokenomics, what will it take for an established reggae artist to pull in his crowd and investment into the reggaesteem tribe? Even an upcoming artist will be able to put effort into developing his/her own content because there's support from investors. Imagine a twitter of Reggae enthusiasts where users can be rewarded based on the reggae contents they share. Reggae being an already existing culture presents Reggaesteem with a stream of market of potential viewers which will have a direct effect on the AD revenue generated by the site.
Notice how I haven't said anything that is dependent on the price of steem all along?
What Tribe will be revolutionary?
In my opinion revolutionary in this case will be the tribe to be independently economically self sustainable and capable of generating positive ROI to its investors and users with immutable and transparent economics embedded in the heart of the blockchain.
I really don't see where content creators are falling short in this new economic system besides doing what they do, create content and maybe HODL the token they earn.
It took the blockchain a halt before some of us could get the wake up call, I'm very passionate about only few things, my pursuit, steem blockchain, tech in general and swallowing information surrounding those things and mashing them into more interesting information for the world to use. When steem blockchain halted, I found myself in a constant loop between flipping through twitter and techcrunch, I eventually had to limit myself to only techcrunch at some point because twitter consumes a lot of internet data, I really can't wait for Elons internet satellite launch that will subsidize the cost of internet usage globally... but techcrunch could not satisfy my hunger, in a broader spectrum of things, every tribe has the ability to have such hold on their users, it only takes time.
There will always be two sides on Steem, the side that focuses on the poor price of Steem token and the side that focuses on the opportunity in Steem blockchain, the later is in a better position to benefit from what the blockchain has to offer, its up to you to pick what you want.
#Newsteem is like a open source kitchen where anyone has access to the ingredients and tools they need to make their best food. Some will turn out to be delicious while some won't, will yours?
Welcome to New Steem and thank you for reading.
