In 1988 when the Italian Serie A was on the rise, in our village many children including me watched the live broadcast of the highest football match in the Italian competition. My first brother at that time was very fond of Maradona, everywhere he always used Argentina's number 10 shirt belonging to Maradona.
I, who was new to world football, were not yet familiar with the names of world-famous players. But my second brother is very fond of the Nederland national team. And he likes to write the name Marco van Basten in his bag, in the closet, on the school desk, on the wall of the house, just anywhere he can write. And he has a tattered Marco van Basten poster, he sticks it on the wall of our bedroom (we share a bed of three and I am the youngest boy). He got the poster from a sports magazine. At that time I had only just known a soccer match and had not memorized the names of the players, but when my brother put the poster Marco van Basten on the wall of our bedroom I became interested in van Basten. Underneath van Basten's poster is his profile so I know van Basten was at that time strengthening AC Milan.
Out of curiosity about van Basten I became the focus of watching football on television played by AC Milan, at that time we watched live football broadcasts in the only coffee shop in our village. When I first saw Marco van Basten playing for AC Milan, I immediately knew him. I don't remember who the AC Milan contender was at that time, which I knew at that time van Basten scored and I was very excited and jumping up and down.
Since then I have never missed watching a live broadcast of a football match played by AC Milan. At the end of the season AC Milan won the Serie A and UEFA Champions Cup. An achievement that made me proud at that time.
At that time in the Milan line-up I was already familiar with several other stars such as Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit, Roberto Donadoni, Carlo Ancelotti and Franco Baresi. Later I became a fan of Franco Baresi who was then the captain of the AC Milan team. My background is being a Baresi fan because when I play football in amateur competitions in our village I play in defense positions. Franco Baresi who retired in 1997 with Milan and number 6 as his jersey number also retired from AC Milan, since then my love has shifted to Paolo Maldini. After Paolo Maldini retired in 2009 with Milan jersey number 3, my love was anchored to Alessandro Nesta. When Nesta retired in 2013 I did not have an idol player who was defender in Milan. But now I am starting to like the game of AC Milan team captain Alessio Romagnoli. Hopefully Romagnoli can become a star and as good as his predecessors at AC Milan.
Kisahku Menjadi Fan AC Milan
Pada tahun 1988 saat Serie A Italia lagi naik daun, Di kampung kami banyak anak-anak termasuk saya menonton siaran langsung pertandingan sepakbola tertinggi di kompetisi Italia tersebut. Abang saya yang pertama saat itu sangat menggemari Maradona, kemana-mana dia selalu menggunakan jersey Argentina nomor 10 milik Maradona.
Saya yang waktu itu baru mengenal sepakbola dunia belum begitu akrab dengan nama-nama beken pemain dunia. Tapi abang saya yang kedua sangat menggemari tim nasional Belanda. Dan dia suka menulis nama Marco van Basten di tasnya, di lemari, di meja sekolah, di dinding rumah, pokoknya dimana saja yang bisa dia tulis. Dan dia memiliki sebuah poster Marco van Basten yang lusuh, dia menempelnya di dinding kamar tidur kami (kami berbagi tempat tidur bertiga dan saya anak laki-laki bungsu). Poster itu dia dapatkan dari sebuah majalah olahraga. Saat itu saya baru mengenal pertandingan sepak bola dan belum menghafal nama-nama pemain, tetapi saat abang saya menempelkan poster Marco van Basten di dinding kamar tidur kami saya menjadi tertarik dengan van Basten. Di bawah poster van Basten tertera profilnya sehingga saya tahu van Basten saat itu memperkuat AC Milan.
Karena penasaran dengan van Basten saya menjadi fokus menonton bola di televisi yang dimainkan oleh AC Milan, saat itu kami menonton siaran langsung sepakbola di satu-satunya warung kopi yang ada di kampung kami. Saat pertama melihat Marco van Basten bermain membela AC Milan saya langsung mengenalnya. Tidak teringat oleh saya siapa lawan tanding AC Milan saat itu, yang saya tahu saat itu van Basten mencetak gol dan saya sangat girang sambil meloncat-loncat.
Sejak saat itu saya tidak pernah alpa menonton siaran langsung pertandingan sepakbola yang dimainkan oleh AC Milan. Di akhir musim AC Milan menjadi juara Serie A serta Piala Champions UEFA. Sebuah prestasi yang membuat saya bangga saat itu.
Saat itu di line up Milan saya sudah akrab dengan beberapa bintang lainnya seperti Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit, Roberto Donadoni, Carlo Ancelotti dan Franco Baresi. Belakangan saya menjadi fan Franco Baresi yang saat itu kapten tim AC Milan. Latar belakang saya menjadi fan Baresi karena saat bermain bola di kompetisi amatir di kampung kami saya bermain di posisi pertahanan. Franco Baresi yang pensiun tahun 1997 bersama Milan dan nomor 6 sebagai nomor punggungnya juga ikut pensiun dari AC Milan, sejak saat itu cinta saya beralih ke Paolo Maldini. Setelah Paolo Maldini pensiun tahun 2009 bersama jersey Milan nomor 3, cinta saya berlabuh pada Alessandro Nesta. Saat Nesta pensiun tahun 2013 saya belum mempunyai pemain idola yang berposisi bek di Milan. Tapi saat ini saya mulai menyukai permain kapten tim AC Milan Alessio Romagnoli. Semoga Romagnoli dapat menjadi bintang dan sehebat pendahulunya di AC Milan.
