A few months ago "The Trip" came on my radio and I almost got in a car accident reaching for my phone to Shazam it. What was this groovy lick populating my ear drums?? I got addicted immediately and when I got near a computer I scoured the internet for a link, but all could find was a bandcamp preview. Alas, the song wasn't out yet - but now it is!

Psychemagik are a cheery, unique duo from the UK who make some weird excellent party tracks. They're kinda known as one of the big psychedelic DJs in the scene. A few years ago they released a flambuoyant dancefloor banger called Mink & Shoes that got them some traction. They're known for their remix and edit game as well, making their mark on classics by The Talking Heads and Fleetwood Mac. They really aren't afraid to tread across any genre and that's what I really appreciate about them and artists in general. That diversity.
"The Trip" sets the scene with a kind of spacey, white noise, classic rock sound to it for the first minute. At the start they implement a slightly marching drum pattern and give the listener peaks of the upcoming tasty lick with a little dash of faded psychedelia. At about a minute and a half you get an echoing "Hiiii---------Hiiiii-------------Hiiiii"and then we're off on our Trip! While we're grooving we get disorienting vocal samples that craft a sonic atmosphere of being on acid. Psychemagik killed it with this song and I'm going to be listening to it and showing people for months to come.
The second track of our EP is the relaxed funk of "Sister of The Moon". You've got some excellent sliding guitar work from the band coupled with a stomping drum pattern. The kinda whiskey drinking romp you'd like to hear at a small rock club. The vocal and some horns come in and it transitions to an airy ride through the sky or space. The kind of tune you'd like to put on while you did some activity around the house, or chilling on a front porch with a good friend.

It's a solid two-track EP, with "The Trip" being the standout gem in my opinion. I think it could even have meme potential in the psychedelic way you see that song by Macintosh Plus converted into memes. I posted that song below the bandcamp link to The Trip because it's so good on its own if you haven't heard. Before you do that check out The Trip E.P.
