I'm a longtime fan of DJ, musician and producer Bonobo (Simon Green), so it's only fair to dedicate my first Steemit Record Pool post to one of his tracks.
"Cirrus" was released by Bonobo in 2013 and is featured on his fifth studio album "The North Borders". Since it's release it has developed into being one of Bonobo's most popular and famous tracks.
The surreal video for the song manipulates footage from American Thrift, a public domain film from 1962 depicting American consumerism.
One of the instruments used by Bonobo in "Cirrus" is the Hang (drum), an instrument constructed from two half-shells of deep drawn, nitrided steel sheet. The Hang has become more popular in the electronica and downtempo music scene in recent years, with other producers also making use of the instruments' peculiar and mysterious sounds. Examples include Four Tet (Lush), Robot Koch (Eta Aquarid) and Mindseye (The Ocean)
Whether you call it Downtempo, Electronica, Ambient, Breakbeat or any combination of these genres, it's safe to say Bonobo creates unique soundscapes that have no equal...
