Basically, in a shell, I don't like it. I don't know if people out there expect the country folk, who tend to be conservative and Republican, would just be super excited about armed conflict in the Middle East or really anywhere, but we aren't necessarily so.
In case you haven't been paying attention: Iran and U.S. leadership has been having a pissing contest with one another again and this time it has resulted in what can likely be considered escalation of violence. Trump ordered (as far as I can tell) attacks that resulted in the death of a high-ranking Iranian, General Qassim Soleimani. This was in response to Iranian aggression towards America and its interests in Iraq.
This comes just a day or so after Iran leadership taunted Trump saying something along the lines of "There's nothing you can do. about it" in relation to the storming of the USA embassy in Iraq. If you know anything about Trump, this is the wrong way to approach the man in charge of, by far, the most powerful military in the world.
Now, despite what many people might perceive about us country-dwellers, we weren't giving one another hi-5's and celebrating this bloodshed. In my mind Iran is not going to take this sitting down and will likely retaliate in some form or another. I don't know anyone in my community that would be at all excited about the prospect of another war and I say this because the country folk have just as many friends and family members in the armed forces as any other demographic does. Perhaps it sounds a bit selfish, but we are not interested in seeing our own end up in harm's way.
Shortly after the general was declared as a confirmed kill, Trump Tweeted the above message and I really hope that he can keep the arrogance at a minimum. I would hate to see the situation get escalated even more. There is very little doubt in my mind that Iran could be conquered rather rapidly by a full USA strike, but look what conquering nations has done for us in Iraq and Afghanistan. The United States may never be able to leave those places.
So while I don't claim to speak for all rednecks of the world, I know my own community and we are not celebrating this but are actually quite worried that the situation could become much worse and seriously hope that there can be some sort of compromise.
