According to the hottest UNHCR Global Trends report, every three seconds, one person is powerfully displaced globally due to oppression, fight, violence or a human rights violation.
Pakistan hosts the largest number of refugees worldwide after Trukey with 1.4 million refugees residing in the country.
Following them was Lebanon with 1 million, the Islamic Republic of Iran with 979,400, Uganda with 940.8K and Ethopia with 791.6K refugees.
In the backdrop of a difficult relationship with its western neighbour, Pakistan has hosted the largest number of Afghan refugees along with Iran. Pakistan believes that militant groups have abused this situation & used Afghan refugee camps to carry out deadly terrorist attacks in the country, a situation which has made Pakistan deport some 606,905 refugees back to Afghanistan in 2016 — the highest number since 2005.

Since 2002, over 4.2 million Afghan refugees have returned home from Pakistan, aided through the largest voluntary repatriation programme in the UNHCR’s history.
The report further states that 67% of the total refugees in Pakistan live in urban & rural zones whereas 33% reside in refugee villages.
The refugee camps are facing several health issues & people are living in dreadful situations. According to several surveys, majority of the people are working as daily-wage laborers & earning just enough to persist in tough situations.

Due to the absence of this law, refugees living in Pakistan are deprived of their basic rights & face monetary challenges & are not secure.
He further added that Pakistan administration is hoping to register all the undocumented refugees living in Pakistan & provide them with basic requirements of life so that they can contribute to the society.
