The minds are as rotten as the wood
That makes up the pulpit and the pews
They have so adulterated the books
And they even deprive us our meals
Oh! I think they see us as fools
So, they pull is with rope like mules
Sometimes when I sit to consider their ruse
I can't help but be amused
Oh! Religion, thee I hail
For you've kept some people slave
Kept them tight in a mental cage
And some, they keep praying for a way
Religion! I reference you a sage
For you alone has kept some sane
And preserve our green from going gray
By turning the wicked from their evil ways
Judge me not, O ye religious
I know well, thou art pious
Even my conscience is religious
But my soul is liberated
