Tucked away in Salt Lake City sits a surprising bit of Latter-day Saint history -- the Garden Park Ward Building.
This church is highly unusual for a Latter-day Saint ward building, most of which are very utilitarian and are simply a church building and a parking lot. This one, however, sits in the middle of a beautiful park with stunning design elements. The main ward building is not the only one on the property. There is also the historic Carriage House.
The land once belonged to Brigham Young himself. It was deeded and sold in stages for decades, finally being turned over to the church to be used for worship purposes. But the park was kept and maintained.
Naturally, the grounds are utilized for the purposes of wedding/bridal photography and family photos. Actual weddings held here are only allowed for those belonging to that stake.
We were able to wander the grounds for a few minutes the other day, and I was simply enchanted. And of COURSE, now I want to do a bridals session here, LOL!
The detail work on the columns is absolutely exquisite! The colors are so pretty! I couldn't resist.
