It is not religion (bound together minds) vs science (knowledge), it is not either or scenario. One can be spiritual without belonging to any religion, one can be religious and scientific, one can be knowledgeable without being accredited scientist.
Religion originates from the older tribal times where it served the function of government and as the foundation of social order.
Religion also deals with the matters of divine and human nature, spiritual and emotional, with thing like consciousness, justice, feelings, such as love and hate, anger and compassion, forgiveness and retribution, care and passion, something that the science is either ignoring or/and is silent about. Not everything can be expressed through the scientific method or should be for that matter.
With the classical Greece in 500 BC came Heraclitus "change is the only constant" and Pythagoras, the 1st free mason, who had organized loose ancient Egyptian mainly esoteric cults into one secret society.
Followed by Herodotus, the father of history, who has invented a form of narrative that later became known as scientific because it was based on facts, dates, and events, with options for parallel narratives, i.e. if this than that and if this than that, which was later adopted as the formal language of science, a revolutionary departure from Homeric poetic embellishments and exaggerations of mythos and parables.
Later, with the Age of Enlightenment in Europe, these Hellenic ideas took hold and blossomed with the help of freemasonry and secular attitudes, however that did not replaced the need for religions and the spirituality. If I remember correctly, one cannot be a free mason without acknowledging the existence of God.
As far as the science is concerned, actual empirical science, the earth is flat and stationary, and there is no "global" warming, don't let the lying masons and their NASA and academia to fool you, that however does not mean that one is free to be reckless, pollute, and act irresponsibly, contrary to it, this is God's world and all sovereign souls must act accordingly. Enough said about it for now.
