We should not give up too quickly on societal ideas evolved over millennia, despite recent advancements in science, culture, freedom and humanism.
Most who choose to participate in religion do so for what it has to offer them despite its rough spots. Our personal 'religion' should be based on true experience combined with best available trustworthy wisdom.
In a way, we each are brought up with a religion of sort of how to deal with our world. I believe at some point we can choose to reinforce or re-educate our conscience, according to growing personal believes.
