Our proof text is from the book of Luke;
Luke 2:48
So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, "Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously."
Verse: 49
And He said to them, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?"
Verse :50
But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.
Jesus Christ knew the importance of cultivating an independent mind. If we are to make a difference in our world, we are not to look to others for direction. Man's point of view is limited and cannot understand God.
Therefore our culture and tradition must be modified to suit the philosophy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He made a difference in His own world.
As a child of God you are designed to do something new, something unique, something beyond human comprehension. personal improvement and fulfillment in life come through the contnual process of learning from both negative and positive experiences.
Therefore, let us cultivate an independent mind. Let us learn from the lifestyle of Joseph. From the very small age Joseph knew God's plan for his life. He received a vision for his life from God. Although it was opposed by his brothers, he did not reduce it, he stayed in the will of God.
Satan hates an independent mind because it cannot be influenced. It thinks for itself and eximines all things in the light od God's Word.
Psalm 12:2 says that everyone lies to his neighbours; who can we believe?
Many people today give their word but we cannot rely on what they say. The only way to have an independent mind, is to make God's Word your rule. When you yield to God's Word, you will obey His every instruction. What you hear, read or see would be subject to confirmation
Do not be in haste to say "Yes" when you should say "No". Do not be under pressure and tension to say, "No", when you should say, "Yes". This is how to cultivate an independent mind.
