In order to actively promote exchanges and cooperation between China and South Korea, the Korean Institute of Social Sciences led the establishment of the "One Belt and One Road Institute" (http://newsilkroadinstitute.org), which was held on February 5th.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Institute, the “One Belt and One Road” initiative has played a role in maintaining the peace in Northeast Asia and the stability of the Korean Peninsula in the process of fulfilling the role of China’s “constructors of world peace, contributors to global development, and defenders of the international order”. It plays a vital role. At the China-South Korea summit last year, President Wen Jiaxuan also published a statement that South Korea will also participate in the "Belt and Road Initiative."
In this context, the person in charge of the “One Belt and One Road Research Institute” stated that based on the principle of mutual benefits between South Korea and China, the two countries will actively promote diversified exchanges, collaboration, and joint research related to the “One Belt and One Road”. The “Belt and Road Research Institute” will lead the research team with the goal of Sino-Korea research. Take the following three points as the core direction of the development of the institute.
First, the "Belt and Road Research Institute" has become the most representative Chinese research center in Korea's "Belt and Road" related research institutions. In the future, the Institute will strengthen its cultural exchange activities with China's state-level and Northeastern Provinces Academy of Social Sciences.
- Efforts should be made to dig out and introduce young researchers who have made achievements in China’s political, economic, social, and cultural fields in the new era, and actively organize or participate in academic exchanges between China and South Korea, joint research topics between the two countries, and field trips. The “One Belt and One Road” academic journals are issued in forms such as the sharing of knowledge and insights that can promote mutual cooperation between the two countries.
Thirdly, in response to the initiative put forward by the Chinese side to build a community of human destinies, take the "Belt and Road as a Medium" and provide suggestions for the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and South Korea in a changing world order.
The Institute by the South Korean law firm chief lawyer and the 17th, 19th South Korea Congressman Cui Zaiqian, contributed to the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea hero President Lu Taifu former president of the eldest son, the Chinese and Korean Cultural Center Hospital Lu Zaixian jointly served as the hospital Long, Qu Huan, president of the China-Korea Culture Friendly Exchange Association, director Cui Yuanzhi of the 19th South Korean parliamentarian and lawyer, supervisor of Zhang Dezhen, professor of Seoul University, etc., served as directors and supervisors of the institute respectively.
In particular, the participation of young scholars has injected vitality into the future of Sino-Korean exchanges, brought hope, and strengthened the momentum for the development of the institute. Among them are Dr. Li Jianxiong, Dr. An Chang-hyun, Dr. Park Sung-yeon (Peking University), Dr. Jin Rongjing (Tsinghua University), Yu Zongjian, vice president of ancient school, Han Linghu (law firm, Beijing University of Political Science and Law ), Dr. Wei Wei Wei (China Watch Korea President, Korea University), Hong Lian Researcher (Seoul University Institute for Social Development, Central University for Nationalities) and so on.
The Institute’s exchange and collaboration program will be promoted in the Republic of Korea in a way that the central government and local governments will advance. At the same time, it is planning to hold high-end exchanges with the China Public Diplomacy Association, the Foreign Exchange Bureau under the State Council of China, and academic forums such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Renmin University. At the same time, it plans to cooperate with high-end exchanges such as the Heilongjiang Province, Liaoning Province, The Academy of Social Sciences in Jilin Province and China Ocean University in Shandong Province jointly hold academic exchange activities at all levels.
The main areas of academic research are Belt and Road, Northeast Asia and International Politics, China's Leading Leaders Research, China's Regional and Urban Studies, Sino-South Korean Historical and Cultural Exchanges, and Character Studies. As the study progresses, new common research topics will be explored according to the characteristics of the central and local governments. Research in major fields and international academic forums will be conducted alternately in China and South Korea. Promoting academic research will also deepen mutual exchanges between scholars of the two countries.
The Institute said that with the goal of becoming the most representative Chinese research center among the research institutions related to the "Belt and Road" in Korea, the Institute will actively cooperate with China's national and historical and cultural exchange centers in China and the ROK - the three northeastern provinces (Heilongjiang and Jilin (Liaoning) and the Academy of Social Sciences conducted exchanges, and will publish the first issue of the academic journal “Belt and Road” in March, which will be issued in three languages: Chinese, Korean, and English.
