Everyone loves to be respected, I mean no one wants to be looked down upon or spoken to in a manner that does not speak of honor or regard. Becoming a respectable person, however, requires effort since the world will only give you what you demand. Have you been looking out for ways to become a more respectable person either amongst your peers or group, then carefully consider the points I will be listing in this post, make good use of them to make yourself attract respect from those around you.
Be known to keep your words.
People will naturally respect you when they realize you are a person of your words and you wouldn't make promises that you are unable to keep. When you promise something, you need to be sure that it is within your capacity to keep and when things stop going according to plan (which is most times, beyond control), speak to the person involved and let him or her understand the reason why you can no longer hold up with the promise.
Have a mind of your own.
Not everyone thinks for themselves these days, a lot of people just stick to the opinions of other people in order to feel accepted in a particular group. Having a mind of your own, however, helps you stand out amongst a multitude and in cases when people are looking for whom to speak with or get an opinion on a particular issue, you will be identified as the appropriate person since you are known to know what you want and you are able to speak up at any point in time.
Be punctual.
Time is one thing that we cannot control and when it is wasted, we usually cannot give it back, which makes it very important for us to keep to appointments. Keeping people waiting can be really disrespectful and when people know you to be a constant time waster, they will also see no reason why they need to respect your time as well.
Do not speak badly about others.
When people know you to be the gossip, they try as much as they can to not only stay away from you but also lose respect for you since it is believed that you will most likely gossip about them to other people also.
Display emotional maturity.
Disrespect is almost inevitable when you have no idea about what it means to keep your emotions in check, when you are always the cool, calm, and collected person in the block, people tend to respect you more.
Respect others.
Respect, they say is reciprocal, so treating other people with regard is the first step to most likely get them to reciprocate the respect, and treating them with disregard will most likely get them to treat you in the same way. The manner in which we speak, act, and behave towards other people is a complete compilation of what their reaction towards us be as well.
Conclusion.
In the mood of setting new year goals and plans, I hope you find this post helpful and attract respect to yourself wherever you find yourself. Have a great week friends.
