This post is in response to the questioned put forth by Nicole.
"Do you feel that the true purpose of government and law is represented in the current political climate and government?"
I do not believe that the true purpose of the government and law is portrayed in today's climate. The Constitution of the United States, implemented in 1787, was originally put in place to give power to the citizens. Prior to this, the government of the U.S. was weak. It was assumed that if the 3 branches were implemented it would create a better flow but not give the central government too much power over the people.

Now, in today's climate I believe it has shifted to where the government has more say than the people. There are several examples related to Covid, but I want to talk about a case that has nothing to do with the pandemic. There have been several Supreme Court cases where bakeries have been fined for refusing to make a dessert for a customer based off of religious beliefs. This is just one type of case that comes to mind on how citizens and in this case a business owner is not given the freedom they have the right to. Regardless of my opinion on the matter and if I agree with the business owner, I do not believe the government should fine someone for a matter like this.
I do not think the government has an overwhelming amount of power yet, but I believe they could get to that point eventually.
