The Greek word translated apostle is "apostolos" meaning 'one sent forth' with full power to act in the place of another, the sender remaining behind to back up the one sent. An Apostle is a delegate, representative or ambassador of God. Jesus Christ is the ultimate apostle of all time (Hebrews 3:1).
