If you grew up in the 80's you would of heard about the Commodore 64 Games console. For a time it was the best selling console you could buy before the release of the NES.
The original console was a full size keyboard that included a joystick and the cassette draw. The nostalgia of having to wait 40 minutes for your game to load while the cassette was playing god awful sounds, similar to original dial up modems, is strangely great. But once the game was loaded, you spent endless hours playing away.
Well, 35 years later and the Commando 64 has been updated massively. The console itself is half the size of the original, Improved graphics for high definition upscaling through an HDMI port, 2 usb3 ports on the side for joysticks/pads or even plug a charge cable in for your phone, includes a very retro looking joystick, similar to the original, and comes fully loaded with 64 built in games, so no more cassette loading times.
This move by Retro Games and Koch Media, follows Nintendo's success with the new NES mini and SNES mini.
Originally this project was on Indiegogo.com to crowd fund the project, but with the emergence of the NES and SNES mini Retro Games and Koch Media took over the project and fully funded it.
The New ''C64 Mini'' will be ready to be shipped world wide before March/April 2018 at a rumoured cost of around $50-60 (don't quote me on that)
I have fond memories of playing on my Uncles C64 in the early 80's and would love to get my hands on this new rendition of a classic console.
Thanks for reading.
