This post is a review of sorts of two sodas I tried: Mountain Dew Black Label and Mountain Dew White Label.
I am not a big soda drinker, but will have one from time to time, probably averaging about 1 - 2 sodas per week. I know they are not the healthiest, but in moderation, I think they can be enjoyed.
I am not the biggest regular Mountain Dew fan, but am a big fan of their Baja Blast Mountain Dew, which can be found in some Taco Bell's and is a sort of cult favorite. I did see one limited run of Baja Blast available in 12 packs of cans at Target, and enjoyed them. So when I saw the Black Label and White Label, I figured I should give them a shot.
The first ting I noted is that these are in 16 ounce cans, and not in the traditional 12 ounce cans. This, along with the nice branding, give the cans an energy drink type of feeling when looking at them. At first glance, they could also look like a beer can. I thought the branding and use of the 16 ounce can would make for an intriguing purchase. I paid $1 each for the sodas.
The first I tried was the White Label. This had a crisp citrus taste and was less carbonated than most sodas. I could still taste the Mountain Dew, and, when the citrus was added, it reminded me of a Sprite, only with less carbonation and some Mountain Dew added. Overall, it was not bad and I give it a 4 out of 5 Steem.
I tried the Black Label next. I enjoyed this one a little better, and it also had less carbonation than most sodas. The Mountain Dew presence was stronger on this one, but it had a great berry flavor, perhaps most resembling a black berry. I thought the taste was fairly sophisticated and it reminded me of a Dr. Pepper, where there are many things going on, but they produce a nice, cohesive and unique taste. This one was a winner, and I give it a 5 out of 5 Steem.
These new sodas were a nice change of pace and I enjoyed them both. Now I need to go for a run or something to offset this sugar high.
Take care,
Brian
