The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
The Bell Jar is a semi-autobiographical novel written by renowned poet, Sylvia Plath. It is also her only novel. Plath was first and foremost a poet. Her poetry collections include The Colossus and Ariel
The Bell Jar is a classic. If you'd like to see Plath's diversity in writing, you won't be disappointed in this novel. The story is solid and almost satisfactory, except for the ending, which I thought was a bit vague.
My score
7/10
7 out of 10. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath loses most points in the conclusive lines. That's only my opinion and shouldn't mean that you shouldn't read this book. I just firmly believe that a good and satisfying ending is absolutely necessary for a novel. Especially an ending that doesn't leave the reader with more questions than answers.
