The Story
The world is sttled in the 26th century. The doctor Dr. Ido finds a still functional part of a cyborg on the scrap yard of the city of Zalem. Without hesitation he takes it with him to Iron City, a district below Zalem, where most of the bounty hunters are based. He builds a new cyborg from the different parts he found so far and names it Alita. Alita wakes up without any memory and very fast she finds at Iron City a friend named Hugo.
Very soon Alita finds out that Zalem is led by Nova, who has no good intentions at all. Nova tries to bring Alita back to her old memories and she discovers that she has special abilities.
For my taste is Battle Angel Alita a good remake from the manga origin, which can really show itself. The idea to animated the film in a different way gives the movie and the world, and also the story and everything around it, its own flair. However, it bothered me that the makers wanted to press in to the movie much story - for 122 minutes that was to much - this could definitely have been solved differently. The action scenes are very well done, partly with slow motion, and to follow Alita in discovering the world and her fights through all the metal opponents is a joy.
The movie is really fun and I gave it a rating of 8 at IMDb.
