Then she meets another lady who appears all the signs of an angel, including the unmistakable attributes - wings. The devil woman cannot use her powers against the angel. In the end, they embrace and disappear.
Interestingly, the lady angel only realizes her own nature after getting in contact with the devil lady. Seemingly, the symbolism behind this plot is that the good becomes obvious only in contrast with the evil. The ending, where symbolic plus and minus canceling each other, enforces this idea.
To some degree, it makes sense. Remember one novel where the writer comments about one of the characters. “It was hard to experience so much good fortune and not to get callous.”
To me, the more interesting question is: what caused the separation of the “neutral world” into negative and positive poles? In addition, why does a woman become the concentration of this negative charge, to begin with? The author is not very specific about it.
She didn’t know why it started. She wasn’t even completely sure when.
Yet it definitely had to do with some negative emotions that other people have ignited in her. Thus, one can summarize the “moral” or the “point” of the story in the following way...
Don’t make a woman mad or else you might awake a demon in her. Then she will burn the hell out of people and it will take an angel to calm her down.
