I think a lot of you, if not most, will agree that game of thrones is THE best television show ever made. Most of us have been fans of the show ever since it started and to me, it felt like the show only got better and better over time.
But all good things must end, even game of freaking thrones. But don't worry, after the current season will wrap up the series, we will still have the books to look forward to for that unending need to continue reading about our favourite characters.
Speaking of the current and final season, we are only through the third episode and already so much mind blowing stuff has happened. This one was probably the most epic episode in the entire series and possibly in all of television history! At least that's how I feel.
The first two episodes were kind of building towards this one setting up the various characters and plot lines. In fact, one could argue that the entire series from the very beginning was building towards this particular episode and boy, was it good!
The Battle of Winterfell (spoilers)
So, the white walkers have finally arrived to Winterfell and everyone is ready to ward off the attack. The plan is to wait for the night king to show himself so that Jon Snow and Daenerys could try and finish him off. After a few moments of eerie silence, the battle finally starts.
What started out as hope that the good guys could overpower the bad guys, ended up quickly in fear and confusion as there were simply too many white walkers and our heroes were just outnumbered. Even with the help of the two dragons, the white walkers couldn't be stopped and they managed to reach the castel and breach it.
Even after thousands of bodies fell, most of the main characters kept going till the end and when we just thought that it was game over for them, there was a huge turn of events when it was Arya, and not Jon as we all expected, that ended the Night King, once and for all, leading all the white walkers to just die, for good this time.
Ever since the beginning, the episode was so captivating that one simply couldn't take one's eyes off the screen. There was continuous blood and gore and people killing and running trying to defend everyone in the castle, dragons flying around and scorching the undead in hoardes, the Night King laden undead dragon spewing blue fire and fighting its own brothers, the dead coming back to life in the crypts of Winterfell, moments of utter suspense, epic music that simply augmented all of it and the visual effects that made everything seem so real.
It was just a feast for the eyes and I was just gripped from start to end. There were moments where I am pretty sure I forgot to breathe even! I just can't wait now for what's in store for the next three episodes.
