Let me start off by saying the good out weighs the bad... by a lot, however the initial frustration still lingers. This has prompted me to write this post.
This is me, Jason aka Whirldly.
I found Steemit via it's blockchain Steem in the Bittrex exchange. I stumbled onto the crypto currency and did some research on it and found out about Steemit. I don't know if this is a common experience or not but it's mine. I became more and more excited as I read about how Steem and Steemit work together to build a decentralized coin and community of people. I have always dreamed about making money by being directly rewarded by the people who value my contribution to society. After about a week of reading Steemit posts and waiting for my Steemit account to get validated I decided to jump in with both feet. I sold most of my other crypto coins and bought 700 Steem. I did this because I loved the idea of my money providing a value to the community as well as demonstrate my commitment to the technology and platform. At this point I thought all was well, a week had passed and with a wallet full of Steem I waited to be verified. Then I waited some more. Two weeks passed and still nothing. I searched and searched for the reason why I had not been verified. My excitement started to dwindle and the frustration started to build. I even went through the help section in the FAQ, and found my breaking point when I found the recommendation under accounts that said,
How long does the account approval process take?
Most accounts are approved within 24 hours. Some may take up to a week.
If your account has not been approved after one week, please ask for help in the #help channel on steemit.chat.
This was not helpful to me because it required me to have a Steemit account to ask for help, which I obviously did not have. I finally gave up and paid the 10 Steem to Anon and received my account immediately. Well worth the money.
Now that I have an account all is well and I'm having fun. I moved my remaining Steem over to Steemit and turned it into Steem Power. I love how there is little to no bullies and that the posts are mostly posted by people who care about what they're writing about.
I only wished the process to join was less frustrating.
P.S.
I have no idea if my first attempt at making an account will ever be verified or not. I have had no other communication from Steemit in regards to it other than the initial email.
Thank you for reading my first post.
