After living in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore for awhile and succumbing to heroin addiction myself, I can definitely attest to the show's authenticity. Some of the scenes were hard for me to watch because of how realistic the portrayal is. I have been clean for awhile now and I just may have to rewatch the series as a reminder of how treacherous that lifestyle can be. Thanks for the great, well-written review and kudos for spreading the word about one of the most thrilling and interesting series ever created. Now that the show is over a decade old it's time to introduce it to a new generation of viewers, especially given the recent resurgence of the opiate epidemic.
