Reykjavik, in January, is like Bucharest, art events wise.
That is, lots of exhibitions, art openings, art-related events, conferences and concerts. Well, maybe not so many as in Bucharest, but the size difference between those two cities is also ten-fold.
So while I was here, I tried to attend as many of these events - and succeeded, thanks to my artist friend, Skulina.
New art, old art, former artists residences turned into museum, conceptual art, architecture, sculpture, everything...
And, above all, the feeling of a great family, the artists meeting the same evening at two or three events - they are being organized solely during weekends. You get to know or at least to see the director of the museum, the art critics, the art historians, the artists and their friends in a matter of weeks.
And enjoy the white wine and sparkling water.
Cheers!
Almost all the photographs are taken by me during an event at Asmundarsafn, the residence-turned-museum of Asmundur Sveinsson, an Icelandic sculptor of the 20th Century (http://artmuseum.is/asmundarsafn).
