THEN
NOW
Happened to stumble upon my son watching this. I got a taste of the new lows of the Netflix producers. Not only do they completely waste an opportunity to make a great series, they are using it to confuse and demoralize the youth.
Here is the plot via Wikipedia.
Richie Rich is a boy who turned vegetables into a clean energy source. As a result, Rich now has over a trillion dollars. Rich lives with his family in a mansion filled with toys, contraptions, and his best friends Darcy and Murray are always by his side, along with Irona, Rich's robot maid, his dad Cliff, who loves naps and is a bit dense, and his jealous sister Harper. Also, Darcy loves spending money and Murray doesn't want anything out of budget.
Richie mentions in the opening theme that he guess he got rich from not eating his vegetables. The father figure is an outrageously irresponsible consumer of his son's riches. There is no mother to speak of and unlike the film of the 90's he is an affluent that worships money. The introduction of an teenage android female is just bizarre. There is no professor or sophisticated butler.
I haven't been blind to the campaign of demoralization going on at Netflix. When it was the adults, I just thumbs down and avoided it. Now that I see it in the children's programming I have to point this out.
