Cyber war is much cheaper than traditional combat. The costs of fighter jets, guns, and numerous defense systems measured in millions... possibly trillions.
Warefare of all sorts has both offense and defense. In the cyber world most people think defensively. My guess this is because we are afraid of full scale war in our digital world.
If I think of an all out attack, I would target banks. If the public experiences delays or simple inconveniences. There would be panic.
The stability and honesty provided by blockchain technology is the answer, but until we suffer an all out cyber attack, few realize the current risks.
Any backup system is suspect until a systemic failure causes a recovery to occur. The complexity of traditional transactions only requires very brief cancellation and recovery windows. My point is traditional computer transactions share risks of failure.
Today, I felt like a farm boy visiting the big city. Hundereds of thousands of people were out scurrying through their lives. The traffic was terrific.
The untold count of people trusting in fiat currency blew my mind.
