So far we have seen Sophia accomplish many tasks in a very short time. The robot become a Saudi Arabian citizen in October 2017, the first of her kind to receive citizenship of any country. She has also appeared on talk shows and there are even rumors of her threatening to 'destroy humans.'
So, lets review the facts shall we?
Designed by Hong Kong firm Hanson Robotics, Sophia uses machine learning, and responds by reading people's expressions. She even cracked a few jokes in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon.
What do we know so far.
1.) Sophia was developed in Hong Kong by Hanson Robotics.
2.) Sophia has citizenship
3.) Sophia can read facial expressions
4.) Sophia can crack jokes...
Although Sophia has previously said that the A.I. "is designed around human values like wisdom, kindness, and compassion," she has also hinted at darker tendencies. A technical glitch at a SXSW event in 2016 saw her claim she will "destroy humans," leaving her creator red-faced.
5.) Sophia is two faced.. Where could she have learned that from eh?
6.) Sophia may respect humans or desire to destroy us...
