It is with great sadness that I announce that another one of our members has passed on, or as we call it in the Hash, "gone to the great on up."
"Pamela" was his Hash name and he was with us for many years racking up 773 runs in the process. He was one of the early members and later he had to retire and rarely join us because of back injuries. He would turn up from time to time but was physically incapable of participating in any of the runs, which is fine. You don't have to run or even walk to join in with us.
During his active years he was very dedicated to the Hash and was a regular participant even continuing to try to take part against doctor's orders because of a bad back. His wife "Geisha Gash" and son "Minute Man" continue to run with us on a regular basis.
He will be remembered as a guy that would always make you laugh in the circle and at events, and had a sort of permanent smile on his face that was infectious.
not the best pic, but we have a limited stock
The family has asked for us to not discuss the cause of death and I will not do so because I don't know what it is and couldn't tell you even if I wanted to. It is always tragic when someone goes to the great On Up but we know that it is something that will eventually happen to all of us.
During his final years he would occasionally join us for events and at one point was one of the most active members in our ranks. He could be considered a founding father of sorts since he was participating back when our organization was quite small and had very few members. He embodied what makes Hashing great: It isn't the number of people involved that makes this a great thing to get involved in, but the fact that it exists at all. He formed a great bond with all of us and will be well-remembered and dearly missed.
Our condolences to the family and the next week's events will be dedicated to his memory.
