It was a hell of a experience.
You can trained, you can acclimatize, you can plan and you can succeeded in that but how can you right with mighty Himalayas. Runners was ready to get into 480km on world's highest motorable road and highway so.
7 runners started their long journey in Trans Himalayas to reach finish line which was 480km far with 10000 meters overall elevation gain. The 5 high mountain passes makes it more challenging, which includes worlds second highest motorable pass, Tanglang La (5389m).
I was doing volunteering there. 7 runners started and only 2 could finish the race. There only last option was quitting the race before death, so 5 chose quit for them but 2 continues their long long long journey into deep valleys.
They faced rain, snowfall, hailstrom, thunderstorms, black ice under the shoes, AMS, frustration, and high altitude encounter. After beating everything finally the 2 reached on finish line.
Two Indian ultra runners finished the race, first is Shashwat rao, who took 113hr 36min 50sec. and second is Pulkit who covered the same distance in almost 118hr.
I am following few foreign ultra runs and now by seeing this performance of Indian ultra runners, I can say that the level of runners in India is improving.
Enjoy the view and rest will update share soon.
