Run #49/50 - 98%: ✔
49! What a memorable number!!! I think that was also the maximum windspeed today during my run.
The water is quite far away, but you can clearly see the waves. I took this picture after I came back from my run to the office
The weather predictions were bad, ‘not as bad as 2 weeks ago’, they said on the radio yesterday, but bad. So I was just hoping for the best. I had prepared my bag with running stuff the evening before and brought it diligently to work today. As I monitored the weather from the window in the office (approaching lunchtime) it didn’t look that bad and when we set off all was still alright. Conditions were nice and comfortable with the occasional sun even peeking through the clouds, which gave a nice warm feel for the first time in a long time.
- Weather: 9 degrees with generally good conditions, until the last kilometer
- Distance: 8,5 kilometers
- Time: 47 minutes
- Pace: 5:33 min/km
- Training Effect: 4,2 = Highly Improving
As we were approaching km #7 (see map below) all of a sudden the wind started picking up and as we crossed the bridge you could clearly see the waves forming over lake Zurich. Unfortunately I left my phone at home, so there are no pictures today from during the run. As we were going through the last 1,5 kilometers, I think those were the most difficult ones I’ve ever done.
The wind really started picking up and it was really hard to speak to one another as we couldn’t hear each other anymore. At one point I even felt that I didn’t even move forwards, that how hard the wind came at me!!! I saw on my watch that I achieved a heartbeat of 169 at a point during this last 1,5 kilometers. I was really surprised that I saw we completed the full 8,5 kilometers in 47 minutes, that’s quite fast if you compare that with our previous runs.
Look at those poles and trees how they bent and that was far from the worst!
Have a look at my splits below and my max heart rate especially in those last 2 rows. We were really fighting against the wind, but it was a good exercise. I had a look at the local weather measurements when we came back and apparently the highest measured gale-force winds were up to 60 km/h
That is run #49 done for my fifty runs till May set by . On Thursday I will do a prolonged post about my 50 runs and it is also the birthday of my colleague/running partner, so that will be extra special.
After every rainstorm there's a rainbow 😃
... or 2 if you're really lucky!!!

Keep running and have fun!
