Little Man has a love for ladybugs, I mean why not? They are cute, they are very beneficial insects and their striking red color makes them hard not to notice. Since he loves them so much, we started getting various ladybugs in whatever form we find them, from wooden decorations to plastic toys. For a change, I tried making some with colored papers as well and since my boy loves destroying things, I used my laminating machine to protect my crafts from his hands.
Wanna see how I made them?
First, I cut out circles from red and black paper...
Then, I used black paper to cut out the body, basically a rectangle wit round edges. After that, I cut the red circle in half and fixed it on the black body trying to make them look like open wings.
Black antennae with red tips came next. I didn't forget to give my ladybug a nice big smile with a red pencil and of course black spots made with a black marker.
Some glue to make sure that all parts would stay in place until the lamination process.
You'd think I forgot the eyes, but NO!! Googly eyes came last, so that my ladybug has a more playful look.
Little Man loved this one and I could not leave her alone, so I gave her a little friend. Well, basically they look more like a mother and child pair to me, don't you think?
I did not cut around them as I wanted to avoid any spiky edges that could cause any kinds of injuries, after all Little Man is a very energetic toddler and you know what they say: better safe than sorry!
