Fri-yay today and the weather decided to show us its rainy face. It has been raining all day until late afternoon and school has been a nuthouse, as the kids were not allowed to go out and they had to spend their recess time in the school corridors. As I wanted to help them relax during the afterscool cycle, I decided to let them watch a movie soon after they finished their homework.
A quick youtube search (and I only tried youtube because the Windows XP computer I have to work on does not seem very reliable for anything else) led me here:
The Elfkins - Baking a difference
What the IMDB site has to share:
"The legendary Elfkins (Heinzelmännchen) of Cologne were gnomes secretly helping craftsmen at night until they were ousted by a tailor's malevolent wife 200 years ago. This is the story of their return."

The Elfkins is a German movie about tiny gnomes who used to help craftsmen at night finish their work. In this movie Elfie and her friends crawl out of their hiding place and help Theo, a pastry chef who is about to lose everything to his competitive jealous brother. Elfie's friends manage to overcome numerous problems, save Theo's pastry shop and reunite him with brother. A sweet story, with beautiful pictures, full of vivid colors and the heartwarming messages of how important friendship and family are.
I have to say I really liked that story. I hadn't watched an animation movie in quite some time and this one was really nice. The kids liked it too and can't wait for next Friday for our next movie time!!
Any good suggestions for children from 7-12 years old?
